Imagine yourself
traveling in a Conestoga wagon on rough trails barely wide enough
for the wagon, crossing steep
mountains and rambling creeks. In the early days, under such
conditions, the journey from Staunton to Parkersburg took at least 3
days, if you were lucky. Today, travelers on the turnpike have it much easier! Although the 225-mile journey can be driven in less than a day, you could spend a week or two exploring the many things to see and do along the way. |
