The Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike Alliance
The Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike Alliance was formed in 1994 from a
collaborative effort of groups and individuals concerned with protecting
and promoting the historic sites along the turnpike. The SPTA, with
assistance from many partners, identified resources, sponsored events,
and provided interpretation projects. • Interpret the history of the Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike and its connecting pikes; • Present the history and significance of the Civil War campaigns along the pikes; • Enhance the historic and scenic qualities of the land along the pikes; and, • Encourage low-impact heritage tourism for the area. |
Join the SPTA! info@spturnpike.org to learn how you can participate in the task. |
